For the 19th time in LSU Baseball history, the Tigers are heading to the College World Series, where they will meet an all too familiar foe in the Tennessee Volunteers on Saturday night. As exciting as the matchup between the Tigers and Volunteers will be, the 2023 College World Series means so much more to the LSU Tigers faithful, who have awaited a return trip to the promised lands of Omaha, Nebraska, for the first time since 2017.

For many, the 2023 LSU Baseball program is one that the LSU faithful believe can win them another National Championship. Making it a 7th National Championship, the first since 2009 when the Tigers defeated Texas in two out of three games.

When Head Coach Jay Johnson took over as Head Coach of the LSU Baseball program, he promised the LSU faithful that he would return a National Championship to Baton Rouge. Heading into the 2023 season, LSU had been considered the team to beat. Despite a few bumps in the road, the Tigers are now in the 2023 College World Series in the driver’s seat to come away from Omaha with a National Championship and the early pieces to do it again in 2024.

As LSU prepares for another College World Series run, the Tigers have a better team than anybody remaining in the 2023 field. Led by an immediate Major League-ready starting pitcher in Paul Skenes, LSU has a pitching staff that has the potential to give the Tigers’ outings that give LSU an unbelievable advantage over their opponents. When it’s Paul Skenes’ day to pitch for the LSU Tigers, opponents have grown accustomed to taking the loss because once Skenes gets a lead behind the LSU bats, Skenes works his magic, propelling LSU to victory.

On the offensive side for Head Coach Jay Johnson and his mighty LSU Tigers is the perfect storm of explosiveness needed to win another National Championship. One through nine on the LSU roster can blast the living heck out of the baseball, leaving their opponents vulnerable, often without a backup plan once the LSU offensive barrage begins. When you’re top half of the lineup, include the likeness of Crews, Morgan, and White added with a bottom half including the names Kling, Thompson, and Pearson; it’s an easy solution to why LSU is too damn good for anybody else. LSU hits the long ball, can play small ball, and the Tigers are known to make comebacks impossible.

LSU will open the 2023 College World Series on Saturday night against the Tennessee Volunteers. A Tennessee team that LSU beat two games out of three in early April.
