Echos of LSU! LSU! LSU! filled Charles Schwab Stadium as the LSU Tigers put on a show for those who made the trip from Louisiana. Crucial hit after crucial hit, the LSU fans in attendance could sense what was to come as the Tigers would cruise to an easy win over the Florida Gators in game three of the 2023 College World Series Championship series. As the runs poured over the levee for Florida, the LSU faithful got louder and louder as their beloved Tigers played through motions making it impossible for Florida to think, let alone play the game of baseball. LSU fans turned Charles Schwab Stadium into Alex Box Stadium North for two weeks propelling the Tigers past the finish line of being named the 2023 College Baseball National Champion.

Florida would plate two runs in the bottom half of the first inning behind a two-run shot from Wyatt Langford to take an early 2-0 lead over the Tigers. However, the Gators’ enjoyment would be short-lived, as the Tigers would explode for six runs in the top half of the second inning. LSU started the barrage in the second inning with timely hits, a few hit-by-pitches, and a string of walks that ended the day for the Florida starting pitcher, Jac Caglianone. Through two complete innings, it was six to two in favor of the LSU Tigers. In the 4th inning, LSU would add four more runs to make it 10-2 Tigers. During the top half of the 4th inning, LSU would see the redemption of Jordan Thompson with a base hit of his own. During the ensuing at-bat, Josh Pearson launched a two-run shot to deep right field to plate Thompson. From there, LSU would have several big hits to extend the lead to 10-2 over the Gators.

Ty Evans would add a solo shot for Florida to right field, making it 10-3 in favor of the LSU Tigers.
Florida would add another homerun, yet, it wasn’t enough as the Tigers scored three in the 8th and four in the top half of the 9th inning to overpower the Florida Gators 18-4 on Monday night.
On the mound for the Tigers tonight, Head Coach Jay Johnson gave the starting role to Thatcher Hurd, who gave the Tigers six complete innings, giving up two runs, two hits, and striking out seven Florida batters. In the 7th, the Tigers brought Riley Cooper in to give the Tigers a bit of a cushion with the lead. Many expected to see the likeness of Paul Skenes take the mound to close out the deal. However, Head Coach Jay Johnson brought Gavin Guidry to guide the LSU Tigers across the finish line to win the 2023 College World Series National Championship.

Despite not pitching on Monday night in game three of the National Championship, Paul Skenes concluded his career at LSU as the 2023 College World Series Most Valuable Player and a National Champion.
With the National Championship win on Monday night, LSU has secured a 7th National Championship, the first since 2009. Despite a few rough spots, LSU was the best baseball team all season, which ended in a National Championship for a program that deserves the spotlight.
