All season, LSU Baseball had been the team to beat. Sure, the Tigers fell on challenging times in the middle half of the Southeastern Conference. Pitching was struggling; the bats weren’t doing what LSU needed them to do. However, LSU did what they had to do by sticking together as one unit to win the program’s 7th National Championship.

LSU Baseball did what only legendary teams have done, they faced adversity and multiple elimination games, and somehow through it all, the LSU Tigers won the 2023 College World Series in what many considered one of the greatest college baseball teams of all time.

Sure, guys like Paul Skenes, Dylan Crews, and Tommy White were the big-name contributors in the 2023 College World Series for the Tigers, but it was the supporting cast that gave Head Coach Jay Johnson and his LSU Tigers the extra oomph needed to win the National Championship. From Tre’ Morgan and his stellar infield play to Ty Floyd, Thatcher Hurd, and Riley Cooper on the mound, everybody that wore the purple and gold played a massive role over the last month to lead the LSU Tigers to another National Championship. Nothing too small went unnoticed as the Tigers played for the state of Louisiana.

It was the next man up for LSU over the last month; we saw that with Jordan Thompson, who had a miserable 2023 College World Series, his team had his back, and it was the next man up for the LSU Tigers. Thompson would bounce back in the Final Game against the Florida Gators with his timely hitting that would give the Tigers an added advantage.

Head Coach Jay Johnson minimized his management and left it up to his players to make the right judgment decisions to win for LSU. Sure, Coach Johnson played with the lineup a bit on Monday night, but in the end, the depth showed out, and the Tigers cruised to an easy game-three win to the 2023 College World Series. For generations to come, College Baseball fans will debate where LSU belongs on the all-time list; that’s just how good the 2023 LSU Tigers were. That answer might be a bit tricky, but one thing is for sure, the 2023 LSU Tigers Baseball team will go down as a unit of legends who did legendary things to win a National Championship.
