Coach Clark Lea and the Vanderbilt Commodores are ready to continue the momentum into the 2023 season

Day two of the SEC Media Kickoff got underway early on Tuesday morning, with Head Coach Clark Lea of the Vanderbilt Commodores winning the podium. Coach Lea presented a nonsense but exciting insight into the future of Vanderbilt Football. Last season, Vanderbilt was one win shy of returning to the postseason for the first time since 2018, when the Commodores traveled to the Texas Bowl and lost to the Baylor Bears 45-38.

Last season, Coach Clark Lea and his Vanderbilt team snapped a 28-game Southeastern Conference losing streak, won two Southeastern Conference games, and brought the Commodores within inches of leading Vanderbilt Football to the promised land of postseason football.

Head Coach Clark Lea took to the podium early Tuesday morning and won the off-season for the Commodores. Not only did Coach Lea mention the difficulty facing Vanderbilt in terms of the arms race of the Southeastern Conference, but presented a step-by-step plan on how to get Vanderbilt Football among the upper half of the Southeastern Conference.

Coach Lea acknowledged the difficulties facing Vanderbilt heading into the future of Commodores Football. He understands the history of Vanderbilt Football; and where they sit as the historical bottom dweller of the Southeastern Conference, yet, he isn’t afraid to go out to recruit top talent to come to Vanderbilt to play football and earn a degree from one of the most prestigious academic schools in the country.

Coach Lea mentioned having the investment of the athletics department, boosters, and the city of Nashville, Tennesse, to continue the momentum that Vanderbilt Football has seen in the first two seasons under Coach Clark Lea. Part of that investment made by Vanderbilt is in the upgrades currently in the process at Vanderbilt Stadium on the campus of Vanderbilt. Although not expected to be completed by the fall of 2023, the renovations to Vanderbilt Stadium have already seen an uptick in recruiting for Coach Lea and his staff. Coach Lea provided Vanderbilt fans with the excitement he has with the level of talent he and his program are now able to recruit to come to play football at Vanderbilt.

It might seem small to others, but Coach Lea has a simple goal for the 2023 season for Vanderbilt. That goal? To reach the postseason and continue building Vanderbilt Football into a program that Commodore fans will be excited about. Studying the 2022 Vanderbilt Commodores, reaching the postseason in 2023 will be easily obtainable for a team that was so close in year two under Clark Lea as Head Coach. Coach Lea talked about it on Tuesday, but the Commodores will need to finish the job and control what they can, and a postseason bid will likely be heading to Vanderbilt.

Vanderbilt will open their season in 39 days on August 26th at home against Hawaii.
