2023 FedEx St. Jude Championship preview

A summer tradition unlike any other in Memphis, Tennessee, as College Football looms, the 2023 FedEx St. Jude Championship takes centerstage as seventy of the best golfers in the world come to Memphis to compete in the first leg of the PGA Playoffs. Following the 2023 FedEx St. Jude Championship, fifty golfers will remain heading into the final two stops of the season. As in years past, TPC Southwind has prepared for the enormous galleries and thrilling action, blending for an exciting weekend for the 2023 FedEx St. Jude Championship.

On top of that, since 1970, Memphis’ PGA Tour event has raised over 66 million dollars for St. Jude Research Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Coming into the 2023 FedEx St. Jude Championship, the conversations regarding the relationship between LIV Golf and the PGA have calmed down a bit as the focus shifts to competing this weekend at the 2023 FedEx St. Jude Championship and positioning for final two events of the regular season for the PGA Tour.

Names to watch out for as the 2023 FedEx St. Jude Championships gets underway on Thursday are; John Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, Rory Mcllroy, Sepp Straka, and Brian Harman. Darkhorse Matt Kuchar is also a name to keep an eye out for as the tournament progresses into the weekend.

With a lot of rain in the forecast, several guys talked about the difficulties they will face at TPC Southwind over the weekend. Including Rory Mcllroy, who had this to say about the course condition on Wednesday,

” Yeah, I think when it’s wet like this, we’re probably going to play preferred lies the first couple of days just with the number of mud balls that we’re getting out there, and then I almost feel like the wetness of the rough makes it a little bit easier because you’re not in two minds whether it’s going to come out soft or whether it’s going to jump. It usually just comes out soft.

It takes a little bit of the guesswork out.

I think with the softer conditions, I feel like it’s going to play a little easier, especially the first couple of days if it retains all that rain that we’ve had over the last few days.

Unlike years past, the 2023 FedEx St. Jude Championship will feature seventy of the best golfers in the world. In years past, the field would be as large as 120 golfers, but with an upgrade in status as the first leg of the 2023 FedEx PGA Playoffs, the tournament has been narrowed down and will continue to shrink as the playoffs progress.

All the action at TPC Southwind for the 2023 FedEx St. Jude Championship will get underway on Thursday morning.
