We’re in final countdown mode across the Southeastern Conference as programs make their final tuneups ahead of the 2023 season. For a program like Mississippi State, the key to the remaining fall camp is consistency in all things football. Since taking over as Head Coach, Coach Arnett has preached to the Mississippi State Football program the importance of remaining consistent in everything they do. From weight training to attacking practice in the same ferocious manner they would a game, everything that has happened this offseason within the Mississippi State Program has been with purpose building for a bigger future of Mississippi State Football.
We have seen evidence of the growth and consistency of the team with the leadership of Will Rogers. Leading up to the 2023 season, many have tabbed Rogers as the best quarterback in the Southeastern Conference. Rogers took the preseason hype personally and decided to better himself as a player to put his team in a better position to be successful in 2023. Rogers hit the weight room this off-season, focusing on getting stronger and further developing his skillset to add an extra layer to the Mississippi State offensive unit. When fans see Will Rogers on September 2nd against Southeast Louisiana, they will see a physically stronger quarterback leading the charge for the Bulldogs.

Elsewhere, the consistency with the Mississippi State Football Program is evident in how the guys approach practice. We saw it under Former Head Coach Mike Leach, but the guys treat practice like they’re playing for a National Championship. When somebody has a bad day, his brother in maroon and white is there to hold him accountable and to pick him up when he falls. For Coach Arnett and his staff, the message to the team is one of taking care of each other while perfecting your job to make the 2023 Mississippi State team a special one for the fans in Starkville.
According to multiple guys, the entire team has bought into what Coach Arnett and his staff are working to build at Mississippi State. Guys within the program understand the talent is there for Mississippi State to have a memorable season despite the media picking them to finish 7th in the Southeastern Conference Western Division. Coach Arnett has his guys believing that the 2023 Mississippi State Bulldogs could not only compete to finish in the top half of the Southeastern Conference but has the talent to shock the world and reach the 2023 SEC Football Championship game in Atlanta, Georiga.
However, for that to happen, consistency across the board will need to remain the focus as the Bulldogs turn the page on fall camp to the upcoming 2023 season. Often, programs will look good in fall camp, but as game preparations get underway, the focus gets lost on the positives of fall camp. One thing to watch out for at Mississippi State is how the senior leadership on the rosters keeps the younger guys hungry and focused for the season ahead. Mississippi State has chances in September to make a splash on the 2023 season with home games at Davis Wade Stadium against Arizona, LSU, and Alabama. A win in two out of the three and a road win at South Carolina on the 23rd and the Bulldogs would immediately be in contention to compete for the Southeastern Conference Western Division championship.
Mississippi State will open their season on September 2nd at Davis Wade Stadium at Starkville, Mississippi, against the Lions of Southeastern Louisiana.
