Week two of the Southeastern Conference Football season went by with as much chaos as in week one. Across the conference, teams struggled to put away competition with no business being on the same field as programs from the Southeastern Conference. Soon to be a member of the Southeastern Conference, Texas made a statement with a massive road win over Alabama. Then, Southeastern Conference members saw Mississippi State, Auburn, and Ole Miss carrying the torch for the Conference on Saturday as all three earned massive wins over quality opponents.
We’ll start with the bad from over the weekend in the Southeastern Conference as we head down to Bryant Denny Stadium, where the Alabama Crimson got taken to the woodshed by the visiting Texas Longhorns. Texas came into Alabama and left with a shifting victory that has the potential to shift the paradigm in college football for years to come. However, despite losing to Texas on Saturday, the season has just begun for Coach Saban and the Crimson Tide as they attempt to remain unbeaten for the rest of the season.

The ugly from the weekend came across several ugly wins over FCS opponents in games that should have been over by the first quarter. Tennessee and Kentucky struggled the most on Saturday with narrow wins over in-state foes in Eastern Kentucky and Austin Peay for the Volunteers. The Wildcats and Volunteers won, but the concerns were valid after a pair of ugly victories. Kentucky has one more tune-up with the Zips of Akron before it gets real on the 23rd with a road game to Vanderbilt. Meanwhile, the Volunteers will take the trip to Gainesville, Florida, where they will have a date with the Gators on Saturday night.

The good from the weekend came in the form of three unlikely suspects, as Ole Miss, Auburn, and Mississippi State all earned hard-fought wins on Saturday to remain unbeaten. All three programs have a lot of excitement and momentum heading into another wild weekend of Southeastern Conference Football. Mississippi State has an opportunity with LSU coming to town on Saturday to earn a leg up in the SEC Western Divison race a win, and the Bulldogs would improve to 3-0 and 1-0 in Southeastern Conference play.
Overall, week two brought a lot of questions that remain unanswered; week three of the 2023 Southeastern Conference Football season will likely provide a clearer picture of what the rest of the 2023 season will bring for the members of the Southeastern Conference.
