The Lane Train keeps on rolling with a 38-35 win over Texas A&M

On a beautiful fall day in Oxford, Mississippi, the Ole Miss Rebels welcomed Texas A&M to Vaught Hemingway Stadium for a highly anticipated Southeastern Conference matchup. Ole Miss opened the early kick with the Aggies with fireworks as they jumped out to an early 14-0 lead over the visitors from College Station. Texas A&M was no match for the explosive Ole Miss Rebels, as the Rebels dominated the Aggies throughout the game.

In the first half, it was all Ole Miss as the Rebels stepped on the gas and never took the foot off the throttle. Ole Miss would open the floodgates early on Texas A&M, scoring 14 points to push the Aggies to the brink of destruction. That was until the 8:12 mark of the second quarter when Texas A&M held Ole Miss to a field goal attempt that was blocked and returned for a touchdown by the Fighting Aggies special teams unit to make it 14-7 Ole Miss. Ole Miss would respond to the Texas A&M touchdown with a Rebels touchdown to extend the lead to 20-7 with 6:53 remaining in the half. Texas A&M would respond with an impressive touchdown drive to cut into the Ole Miss lead of 20-14 with 1:44 to play in the half. Ole Miss would take the 20-14 lead to the break.

In the second half, Texas A&M would receive the opening kick to start the second half. After putting together an impressive opening drive to start the half, the Texas A&M Aggies would throw an interception in the endzone, giving the Ole Miss Rebels the ball back. Ole Miss would score quickly to extend the lead to 28-14. Texas A&M would add a touchdown midway through the 3rd to stay within a touchdown of the Rebels. Ole Miss would then add three points to the lead with 46 seconds in the third to make it 31-21 Rebels. Texas A&M would rally, pushing Ole Miss to the breaking point. Ole Miss would escape with a 38-35 win over the Aggies.

In the pregame, Texas A&M looked the part as a Southeastern Conference Football program that could come into Vaught Hemingway and give the Rebels a real run at it. Yet, a blocked field goal returned for a touchdown was about all that went well for the Aggies on Saturday. Ole Miss was too much for the Aggies as Ole Miss looked like a legitimate contender in the Southeastern Conference.

Ole Miss will hit the road next Saturday as they head to Athens to take on the two-time defending National Champions, Georgia Bulldogs.
