Opportunity awaits as Ole Miss travels to take on #11 Auburn on Saturday night

Fresh off a disappointing road loss to LSU, Head Coach Chris Beard and Ole Miss Rebels take the unforgiving road as they head down to the Plains to take on the Auburn Tigers. An Auburn team, undefeated in Southeastern Conference play, with a challenging arena to play in for opposing teams. Auburn, 9-0 at home this season, proposes a unique matchup for the visiting Rebels to overcome.

Ole Miss and Auburn, through the years, have provided the Southeastern Conference with instant classics and complete mayhem. From older gentlemen getting into it with the likeness of Marshall Henderson to the chaos that follows when these two programs meet on the hardwood, craziness is the standard.

Last season, Auburn took full advantage of the down season by the Ole Miss Rebels, sweeping Ole Miss in the season series. Despite the new coaching staff, the Ole Miss Rebels understand what’s at stake during the matchup with Auburn on Saturday. Ole Miss comes into the Auburn matchup looking to win their first Southeastern Conference road game of the 2023- 2024 season. Ole Miss started the Southeastern Conference with a blowout loss in Knoxville to Tennessee before losing another road game on Saturday night at the PMAC in Baton Rouge against the LSU Tigers.

Ole Miss Basketball has been a Jekyll and Hyde program to the point this season, at home in the friendly confines of the Pavillion; Ole Miss is unbeatable, posting an undefeated record so far. Away from Oxford, Ole Miss has two lone losses to Southeastern Conference foes they could have beaten had they played in Oxford.

For Chris Beard and his Ole Miss Basketball staff, proving they can win away from Oxford has turned into the small goal that leads to the ultimate prize of competing in the Southeastern Conference on any given night and securing an NCAA Tournament bid for the program. Another chance to do so comes on Saturday as the Rebels travel to take on the 11th-ranked Auburn Tigers.

A tall task for the Rebels to deliver to go on the road and win at Auburn, but one that Coach Beard and his staff feel is there for the taking on Saturday night. In three months, Coach Beard has flipped the script and has his roster believing in the greater good of Ole Miss Basketball. Auburn might be too tall of a task for the Rebels to overcome, but the program is right there at the door, ready to bust through to forever leave their mark on Ole Miss Basketball history.

Ole Miss and Auburn will have the late 7:30 tip-off on the SEC Network. All eyes will be lasered in and focused on the task at hand for Chris Beard and the Ole Miss Rebels.
