Built for March

Later today, Mississippi State will find out where their NCAA Tournament journey will begin, where they’ll be playing, who they’ll be playing, and what the road to the Final Four looks like for Head Coach Chris Jans and his Bulldogs. All season long, Missississippi State has shown they have what it takes to beat anybody in the country but needed more confidence to do so. Following the run in the 2024 Southeastern Conference Tournament, Mississippi State now understands not only can they beat anybody in the country but are a legitimate dark horse to reach the Final Four for the first time since 1996.

As seen in the Southeastern Conference Tournament, Mississippi State is a team of grown men who play grown men’s basketball and represent Mississippi in the best way possible. Mississippi State doesn’t get scared, they don’t back down, and they aren’t afraid to fight.

Mississippi State might not be the prettiest team to watch, but what they do works, and it causes issues for teams that lead to Mississippi State victories.

Mississippi State also has a roster filled with guys from Mississippi who are motivated to make their state proud. The Bulldogs have the guys to make a deep run in March, from young gun Josh Hubbard to veterans Tolu Smith, DJ, and others. It will be a challenging road for the Bulldogs, but if a team was under-seeded in the NCAA Tournament bracket built for a March Madness run, it would be the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Building for March is what Chris Jans has done in his two seasons as Head Coach of the Mississippi State Bulldogs. In two short seasons, he laid the groundwork for Mississippi State to be the program where the nitty-gritty comes to play at the highest level. Evidence of that comes from how the other coaches across the league talk about Mississippi State. Everybody seems to love Coach Jans but hates to play his Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Over the last two seasons, Mississippi State has gained a reputation as one of the toughest teams in the country. Whoever has the misfortune of a matchup with the Bulldogs during the 2024 NCAA Tournament will have an uphill climb as they prepare to play a team always down for a rock fight. Mississippi State will suffocate you with their defense while creating scoring chances for Josh Hubbard, Tolu Smith, and others.

Mississippi State will find out where the March Madness will take them on Sunday at 5:00 as the Selection Show.
