Texas A&M dominates Nebraska 98-83, opening the 2024 NCAA Tournament with a BANG

Texas A&M started the 2024 NCAA Tournament with a game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers, a former Big 12 opponent. In what felt like an away game for the Aggies, Texas A&M faced the Red Sea on Friday night to start the tournament with a bang. Texas A&M and Nebraska would meet in one of the most anticipated matchups of the 2024 NCAA Tournament as old foes meet again steps from Beale Street in Downtown Memphis, Tennessee.

Texas A&M would have a tall task coming into the game as they tried to gameplan to silence the Cornhusker fans in attendance and stop the Neberska scoring barrage that has plagued many teams this season.

However, like last week in Nashville during the 2024 Southeastern Conference Tournament against the mighty Kentucky Wildcats, Texas A&M came into the FedEx Forum with what seemed to be the perfect game plan to help the Aggies succeed.

As the game tipped at 5:51 local time, ” Go Big Red” chants echoed through the FedEx Forum’s halls. The Aggies unbotheredly won the tip, and away we went. Nebraska would hang around in the first half, nipping away at Texas A&M like a pesky gnat.

However, as the first half went on, so did the Texas A&M Aggies, building a significant 58-44 lead over the Cornhuskers at the break. Wade Taylor finished the first half with 17 points, while the man himself, Manny Obaseki, led the Aggies in scoring with 19.

Every time the Cornhuskers from Nebraska tried to take a swipe at the lead in the second half, Texas A&M would force a turnover or two, leading to baskets on the other end for the Aggies. At the under-12 media timeout, Texas A&M held a 76-60 advantage over the Cornhuskers with all the energy in the building on the Texas A&M sideline. As Texas A&M and Nebraska approached the final media timeout, Texas A&M had sucked the life from the Cornhuskers as those in red started to his the exit to drown their sorrows on Beale Street.

Nebraska needed more in the tanks to stop the Texas A&M Fighting Aggies’ offensive numbers while struggling offensively. Nebraska looked like they did not belong on the court as Texas A&M for most of the game. Texas A&M controlled the boards and all the 50/50 balls and played better basketball on Friday night.

Ultimately, Texas A&M played Texas A&M Basketball, and with that came advancement in the 2024 NCAA Tournament. They will likely face the Houston Cougars on Sunday, with a spot in the Sweet 16 on the line. Texas A&M again showed Buzz Ball works in March, but it is still as potent as feared by college basketball.
