Tuesday afternoon was a day of celebration around the Memphis Football facilities as the University Of Memphis announced that Head Football Coach Ryan Silverfield had agreed upon a contract extension, keeping him in charge of the Tigers Football program until at least 2028. A contract worth nearly 14.65 until 2028, giving Ryan Silverfield 2.4 in 2024, 2.25 in 2025, 2.5 in 2026, 2.6 in 2027, and 2.7 million for the 2028 season, giving Coach Silverfield and his staff the investment needed to continue building Memphis Football into a legitimate College Football Playoff contending juggernaut.
Memphis Football has truly flourished, emerging as one of the nation’s most formidable G5 programs. This remarkable growth is a testament to the hard work and strategic leadership of Coach Silverfield. With the contract extension on Tuesday, the Memphis Athletics Department is not just showing support but proclaiming it from the rooftops. This bold move signifies that the resources and backing, once deemed improbable for a city like Memphis, are now a reality. This achievement fills us with collective pride and fuels our optimism for the future of Memphis Football.
Many years ago, in an exit interview, Former Memphis Football Head Coach Tommy West spoke to the media and pleaded with the administration to invest in Memphis Football or eliminate the program.
However, fourteen years later, the Memphis Football program has a legitimate shot at reaching the 2024 College Football Playoff for the first time in program history. According to many experts, Memphis is the best G5 program in the country, with the resources to compete with the big boys of college football.

With the contract extension of Ryan Silverfield, added to the improvements to the Liberty Bowl, Memphis Football has endless opportunities to take that next step to give Tigers Football not only an American Athletic Championship but taking that next step and competing for a national championship in the newly expanded College Football Playoff. In the world of the transfer portal and NIL, having a long-term plan to keep Ryan Silverfield provides Memphis with a massive advantage in recruiting pitches to young men around the country. Add the contract extension with the AutoZone Liberty Bowl win over Iowa State, and ending the season with ten wins is a return on investment like none other.
Memphis will continue its Spring Football season with the Memphis Football Spring Game on April 20th.
