The 2024 SEC Baseball regular season is reaching its climax, with a thrilling three-game race for the SEC regular season championship. Arkansas, Kentucky, and Tennessee are locked in a fierce battle for the crown. As we enter the final weekend, Kentucky stands tall at the top of the SEC standings, securing their 20th SEC win after a hard-fought series against Florida. However, the race is far from over. If Tennessee and Kentucky end up with the same record, Tennessee holds the tiebreaker, having won two out of three games against Kentucky in Lexington a month ago.
For the weekend ahead, Kentucky hosts Vanderbilt, Tennessee welcomes South Carolina to Knoxville, and Arkansas heads to College Station to take on the Aggies of Texas A&M.

Texas A&M is out of the running for the regular season crown with three games to play; the Aggies are two games out of second place and a whole three from Kentucky at first. Texas A&M would need to sweep Arkansas and pray Kentucky and Tennessee are both swept by Vanderbilt and South Carolina.

For Arkansas to win the SEC outright, they will need a little help from lady luck combined with a series win over the Aggies. However, the road woes have hit the Razorbacks like a ton of brick this season, with a lackluster record of 6-6 away from the friendly confines of Baum Walker Stadium in 2024. Arkansas will be walking into a hornet’s nest as the Aggies try to salvage expectations of being a top-eight national seed with a clear-cut path to Omaha.

For Tennessee, despite having the tiebreaker over Kentucky, with three games to play, the Volunteers are a game behind the Wildcats. Tennessee welcomes South Carolina to Lindsey Nelson Stadium with an SEC Championship to win. All Tennessee has to do is finish SEC play with the same record as Kentucky, and they will win the 2024 regular season champion of the Southeastern Conference.

For Kentucky, the Wildcats control their destiny as they approach the weekend series with Vanderbilt at Kentucky Proud Park on Thursday night. Kentucky sits atop the Southeastern Conference standings with a solo lead. With a series win and a little help from the Gamecocks, Kentucky will head to Hoover for the 2024 SEC Tournament with a bye and a one-seed to celebrate.
All the action this week will get underway on Thursday night, with all teams playing a Thursday- Saturday slate this weekend in preparation for the SEC Tournament that begins on Tuesday.
