Quick hitters before all the action gets underway on Tuesday at the Hoover Met

Get ready for a tradition unlike any other, the SEC Baseball Tournament at the Hoover Met. It’s a celebration that’s as eagerly anticipated as Christmas morning for a child. This year, we’re returning to the old-school format for the final time before welcoming Oklahoma and Texas to the conference on July 1st. Fans across the Southeastern Conference are gearing up for an unforgettable weekend of SEC Baseball. They’ll be converging on the Hoover Met from all corners of the Southeastern Conference footprint, some traveling hundreds of miles to reconnect with old friends, forge new friendships, and carry on traditions that have stood the test of time. For many, this weekend will mark the start of a new tradition, their first of many journeys to the SEC Baseball Tournament in Hoover. As always, the action kicks off early on Tuesday morning with a lineup of four thrilling baseball games.

The SEC Tournament starts with the early morning game between the defending National Champion and the LSU Tigers, taking on the Georgia Bulldogs. For LSU, Tuesday morning is their chance to prove to the NCAA Tournament committee that the Tigers belong back in the NCAA Tournament despite having a down season following the National Championship in 2023. On the Georiga side, the Bulldogs will look to slow the roll of the LSU Tigers as they try to advance to the double-elimination round, where they will have another crack at the Kentucky Wildcats.

Following the LSU and Georgia game, fans will have a treat when Alabama takes on South Carolina in a win-or-go-home game on Tuesday afternoon. With a game against the Arkansas Razorbacks and a guaranteed third game for the Crimson Tide or the Gamecocks, Tuesday is about seeding opportunities in the NCAA Tournament. Alabama and South Carolina are on the edge of hosting a Regional but could use a win over the other to ignite the fire of discussion for either team.

In the first game of the night session, Florida and Vanderbilt will play in what could be an NCAA Tournament elimination game for either program. After disappointing seasons for both programs, Vanderbilt and Florida are fighting for an at-large NCAA Tournament bid. Tuesday afternoon between the Gators and Commodores will likely deliver one of the most intense baseball games of the 2024 SEC Tournament. However, Tennessee will be on the horizon on Wednesday afternoon for whichever comes out on top on Tuesday afternoon.

Lastly, the final battle for supremacy in Mississippi will occur between the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Ole Miss Rebels. Ole Miss took two out of three from Mississippi State in Oxford in April before losing the fourth game of the season in Pearl to the Bulldogs, bringing the season series to a deadlock-even status. Anytime these two schools play in any sport, drama is bound to follow. There is no hate as deep as these two schools feel for the other. Mississippi State comes into the 2024 SEC Tournament on the fringe of hosting an NCAA Tournament for the first time since winning the National Championship in 2021. Meanwhile, Ole Miss is hanging on by a thread to the hope of reaching the NCAA Tournament, needing to rally off a miraculous ride in Hoover for that to become a reality.

All the action will get underway at the Hoover Met on Tuesday morning, and all four games will have a national television audience on the SEC Network.
