Keeping things in perspective while navigating the outside noise

With the 2024 college football season on the horizon, Head Coach Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels are embracing their underdog status, poised to disrupt the new 12-team College Football Playoff. Despite a highly successful off-season, hailed as one of the most remarkable in school history, the Rebels often overshadow more established teams like Alabama, Georgia, Texas, and Missouri. Yet, Coach Kiffin and the Rebels relish this underdog role, using it as a driving force to showcase their mettle on the field. The lack of media attention only heightens the anticipation and excitement surrounding the Rebels’ potential in the 2024 campaign.

Looking back at the last season, Ole Miss finished on a triumphant note with 11 wins, culminating in a victory at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl over Penn State. This win sent the Rebel faithful into a state of euphoria, setting a positive and hopeful tone for the upcoming 2024 Ole Miss Football season.

With an expanded Playoff, there’ll be chances for Ole Miss to make it, but Lane Kiffin and his staff went all in for the 2024 Ole Miss Football season. All the talk and the lack of respect Ole Miss is getting in the off-season is rat poison to this team. Unless you’re around the program, the depth of the 2024 Ole Miss Rebels will take a lot of people by surprise with the talent they have acquired using the transfer portal combined with the talent remaining from last season.

For some programs with the preseason expectations that Ole Miss has, the summer is the most challenging time of the year. It’s the few weeks between summer camp, while the kids are away from the school, where Championships are won and lost. While the guys are away from the program’s structure, the outside noise can become deafening as everybody has an opinion on what Ole Miss Football will look like in 2024.

Combine that with the announcement of the 2024 Southeastern Conference kick-off times on Tuesday afternoon, plus the distractions of the preseason magazines, only adds fuel to the Ole Miss Football fire heading into the 2024 season. Seeing the disrespect from all corners of the college football world is something Coach Lane Kiffin calls ” rat poison.”

What happens between the white lines this fall is all that matters; for the first in a very long time, Ole Miss has a legitimate claim to becoming one of the best teams in college football with a chance at doing something no Ole Miss team has done in the modern era, bring a National Championship trophy to the Magnolia State.

All of that success, and then some, is right there for the taking of Coach Kiffin and his Ole Miss Rebels. Sure, these dog days of summer might not be ideal, but an exciting fall is on the horizon for those in Oxford.
