For the third time in four seasons, Tennessee Baseball is back in Omaha for the College World Series; this time, the Volunteers are looking to win their first National Championship with the best Tennessee team in the program’s history. Tennessee has not reached the College World Series Finals since 1951 when the Sooners of Oklahoma beat the Volunteers.
Coming into the College World Series, Tennessee has a bit more to prove, as the Volunteers are tired of being the butt end of the jokes when it comes to coming up short on the big stage. This year’s Tennessee Baseball team shattered the doubts by sweeping the Southeastern Conference and winning the regular season and Conference Tournament championships.

A lot of people hate the Volunteers for their on-the-field antics or how bold their Head Coach, Tony Vitello, is on and off the field, but the Volunteers don’t really about the feelings of others; they’re in Omaha to bring a National Championship back to Knoxville, Tennessee. Under the leadership of their Head Coach, Tony Vitello, Tennessee has mastered the art of playing the villain role, and they love to spoil in on the fun of other programs.
For Tennessee to win the elusive National Championship, the Volunteers must overcome one of the most stout College World Series fields of all time and the ” curse” of the one seed overall. Miami was the only one seed overall to win the National Championship in 1999. Tennessee will look to be the second, proving once and for all that the Volunteers are a program of the future under the watchful eye of Coach Vitello.

From a baseball perspective, Tennessee has the best offensive units in the 2024 College World Series. There are so many ways to beat a team, from the long balls of Christian Moore, Billy Amick, and even Cal Stark. To one of the most consistent pitching staffs in the country, Tennessee has all the pieces to make a run at a National Championship over the next week and a half.
Tennessee will open the 2024 College World Series on Friday night against the Florida State Seminoles. Tennessee comes into the matchup with an impressive 55-12 record and a 6-2 neutral site record. Florida State and Tennessee last met in Tallahassee for a three-set series set to open the 2007 sea, a three-game series in which Florida State swept the Volunteers.
