For the seventh straight season, the Southeastern Conference will have a representative competing for a National Championship in Omaha. Also, 15 of the last 16 championship series have seen a conference member. Coming into the 2024 College World Series, the Southeastern Conference and ACC had four teams, each with the potential of at least five meetings between the two. Despite the narrative driven by the anti-SEC that the Southeastern Conference was down compared to the four programs of the ACC, the Southeastern Conference was down compared to the four programs of the ACC.

Once again, the narrative was proven wrong. The Southeastern Conference has maintained its dominance, boasting an impressive 4-0 record against the ACC. Furthermore, they have triumphed in 11 out of the last 12 games played between the two in Omaha. As we gear up for the Wednesday triple header action in Omaha, the Southeastern Conference is still in the lead with four teams remaining. The ACC’s sole representative, Florida State, faces a tough challenge, needing to defeat Tennessee twice to secure a spot in the College World Series Finals against a combination of Kentucky, Texas A&M, or Florida.

The stage is set for a thrilling showdown between the Kentucky Wildcats and the Florida Gators on Wednesday morning. This matchup is not just a clash of teams, but also a clash of contrasting styles, with Kentucky having taken the series over Florida a few weeks ago in Gainesville. The tension is further heightened by the ‘bad blood’ between the two programs, with Florida being a part of the old blood programs left in Omaha and Kentucky representing the new blood program with no national championships or College World Series experience. With so much at stake, this matchup between the Wildcats and Gators is poised to be a memorable event for college baseball fans. The winner will face Texas A&M on Wednesday night in the College World Series Final Four.

For Tony Vitello and the Tennessee Volunteers, the path to the National Championship is within reach, with one game remaining to play. The only obstacle standing in their way is the Florida State Seminoles on Wednesday afternoon. Tennessee needs one win to secure a spot on the weekend. The Volunteers are no strangers to challenges, having had to walk off on Friday evening against a familiar face. Florida State, a formidable opponent, will test the Volunteers’ mettle, but their Strength and determination make it unlikely for them to lose two games, potentially leading them to the College World Series Finals on Saturday.

On to the Texas A&M Aggies. Texas A&M has dominated the College World Series, beating Florida and Kentucky in two beautiful games and advancing to the Final Four, where they await the winner of Kentucky or Florida on Wednesday night. Despite the injuries, Texas A&M has seen the next man upstep to fill the void for the Aggies, giving the program a legitimate chance at winning a National Championship.
One thing is for sure: if Tennessee does indeed hang on, the collective world will collapse at the thought of crowning another champion from the Southeastern Conference. Yet, for those who know the sport, they understand that the SEC dominating is no surprise. We continue to see the Southeastern Conference dominate in all sports, leaving others with jealousy and hatred for the league. Remember, unlike other conferences, nobody is trying to leave the Southeastern Conference, but programs are begging to join.
