Lost in the spotlight of the new College Football 25 video game, SEC Media Days got underway on Monday in Dallas, with Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels taking the podium to talk about the 2024 Ole Miss Rebels Football and the expectations that followed. Coming into the 2024 season, with an expanded playoff, many have Lane Kiffin and his program as a lock for the 2024 College Football Playoff, many of those have Ole Miss as a legitimate contender to not only win the Southeastern Conference but also to win a National Championship.
With eight returning on offense and six on defense, plus the transfer additions, Coach Kiffin has the workforce to compete for a Championship or two. Like many coaches, Coach Kiffin might not enjoy the hype or even try to downplay the talent he has on the roster. Yet, you can’t take away from the energy surrounding Ole Miss Football heading into fall camp, which Mississippi has not seen in years.
For Coach Kiffin, positioning his team for the most success while drowning the outside noise was the clear message presented that Ole Miss will not pay attention to the noise but focus on what’s inside the locker room while giving Rebel Nation a product on the field that they can be proud of.

Last season, the message was reaching a New Year Six Bowl and winning said bowl; the Rebels did that. Now, as the NIL money has started to flow like honey, Coach Kiffin and his staff have gone all in with the help of the Grove Collective to bring Championship trophies back to Oxford, Mississippi. It’s an entire culture mindset now; there is something different about the program, a different level of maturity around the program that has been lacking in the best seasons.
Standing on Ole Miss’s business and showcasing the program’s maturity will be a difference-maker for the Rebels in 2024. It might come easy, but there has never been a time in the last twenty years when Ole Miss Football was in a position to compete for a National Championship as they are heading into the fall.
Ole Miss will open the season at home against Furman on August 31st at Vaught Hemingway Stadium.
