LAST DANCE: Ole Miss takes down South Carolina 27-3, to give Coach Kiffin his 100th career win

Ole Miss traveled east on Saturday to face South Carolina, looking to right the wrong from losing to Kentucky the previous week. Ole Miss did just that. The Rebels looked like the old Ole Miss, where they dominated South Carolina in all aspects of the game. Lane Kiffin and his pack of hungry Rebels went into Williams Brice Stadium on a day when the entire country went up in flames with upsets and took care of business. Nothing else mattered on Saturday for the Rebels except to walk into Williams Brice Stadium and return to Oxford with a 27-3 win over the Gamecocks.

Not only did Ole Miss return to the win column on Saturday, but Coach Kiffin earned his 100th career win. With a career dating back 13 years, Coach Kiffin took over Ole Miss in 2024 and reshaped how people view the Ole Miss Football program. Over the last four years under Coach Kiffin, Ole Miss has won 39 games, with two trips to New Year Six Bowls under his leadership.

Regarding the game with South Carolina, Ole Miss jumped out to a 24-3 at the half while Jaxson Dart picked apart the South Carolina defense for 206 yards on 74 yards on the ground. Ole Miss turned on the after-burners and cruised to their first Southeastern Conference win over a good South Carolina team.

On the offensive side of the ball, Ole Miss finished with 425 yards and 140 on the ground, with 285 coming through the air.

On the defensive side of the ball, TJ Dottery and Suntarine Perkins combined for 25 tackles, while Trey Amos finished the game with eight tackles of his own.

However, as refreshing as the win over South Carolina is, losing star wide receiver Tre Harris to an apparent injury might come back to hurt Ole Miss in the long run. We’ll know more on Monday regarding how long Ole Miss might be without Harris for the LSU game. Harris went down with an apparent ankle sprain late in the first half against South Carolina.

Ole Miss will return to action on Saturday as the Rebels travel south for the Magnolia Bowl. At night, they will play LSU in Death Valley. If Saturday indicated how the rest of the season would go, chaos would reign supreme, but the door would be wide open for Ole Miss to bust down the door by reaching the College Football Playoff.
