Last week was a week of rest for Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels. They faced the bye week head-on after a grueling two-month stretch during which the Rebels faced the start of the Southeastern Conference gauntlet. During the two months, Ole Miss faced adversity with losses to Kentucky and LSU while hitting the high notes with a blowout win over South Carolina; the rubber hits the road as Ole Miss shifts the focus to finishing the season strong, starting with a win over the Sooners of Oklahoma on Saturday morning.

Ole Miss spent the off-week in the program preparing for what’s to come. Gone are the cupcakes and buy games. From here on out, it’s a win, or this season will face the harsh reality of failure. With two losses, Ole Miss can’t afford to lose another game if they want to compete in the College Football Playoff. With another loss, Ole Miss will then stare down the reality of playing in a lesser bowl game after going all in on the 2024 season. All off-season, the hype around the 2024 Ole Miss season warranted with the depth of the roster with talent spread across the board; however, things have changed, and the Rebels now face a situation where it’s winning, or everything you’ve worked for goes down the drain.
With that in mind, Ole Miss welcomes a far less superior team in the Sooner of Oklahoma, who come into the game on Saturday licking the wounds of an embarrassing and lousy home loss to the South Carolina Gamecocks last week. South Carolina went into Norman, pushed the Sooners around, and finished them off with a 35-9 butt-kicking that frustrated the Sooners as they prepared to head into the teeth of Vaught Hemingway Stadium on Saturday morning.
The same South Carolina team that Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels dominated two weeks ago in Columbia, South Carolina. On paper, Ole Miss is the better team; the Rebels come into the game as a twenty-point favorite over the Sooners. Expect Jaxson Dart to throw all over the Sooner’s defense, lighting up the scoreboard and leading the Rebels to an easy win on Saturday at Vaught Hemingway Stadium.
Ole Miss and Oklahoma will kick in at 11:00 with a national television audience on ESPN.
