#23 Ole Miss goes on the road and dominates Louisville 86-63

On a brisk Super Tuesday, Coach Chris Beard and the Ole Miss Rebels traveled to the KFC Yum Center in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, to take on the Louisville Cardinals in the SEC/ ACC Challenge. Rebounding from a heartbreaking loss to Purdue was the objective on Tuesday night for Ole Miss, and the Rebels maintained their top-25 ranking while looking to pick up their first true road test win of the season.

Ole Miss opened the first half, dominating the Cardinals, racing out to a 40-31 halftime lead over Louisville. Dre David led the way in scoring for the Rebels in the first half with 11 points.

As the second half got underway, you could feel the halftime adjustments and momentum swinging in favor of Coach Beard and his Ole Miss Rebels as they looked to bury the Cardinals early in the half. At the under-16 media timeout, Ole Miss had built the lead to 53-40, with Sean Pedulla leading the charge with seven second-half points to bring his total to 16 points. With 13:30 on the clock, Louisville Head Coach Pat Kelsey called a timeout to calm down the Cardinals as Ole Miss extended the lead to 60-41. At the under-12 media timeout, Ole Miss extended the lead to 65-45 with 11:44 remaining. At the under-8 media timeout, Ole Miss extended the lead to 76-55, burying Louisville’s little hope for a comeback on Tuesday night. The dominance continued at the game’s final media timeout as the Rebels led 81-59.

Ole Miss had five guys scoring double digits on Tuesday night, with Dre Davis leading the way with 18 points.

Tuesday night was a good road win for Coach Chris Beard and the Ole Miss Rebels. Although they faced a hostile environment at the KFC Yum Center, they never flinched from the fight of the hometown Louisville Cardinals. Coach Beard has Ole Miss in a good position to have a strong end to the non-conference slate in December before Southeastern Conference play starts on January 4th against the Georgia Bulldogs.

Ole Miss returns home on Saturday night as they welcome the Lindenwood Lions from the Ohio Valley Conference to the Pavillion for a Saturday night of basketball.
