#13 Texas A&M stuns #16 Ole Miss 63-62 with 13 seconds on the clock to win an instant classic

On a bitterly cold night in Oxford, Mississippi, the Ole Miss Rebels warmed fans as they welcomed Texas A&M to the Sandy and John Black Pavilion for a Wednesday night Southeastern Conference showdown between two top-25 teams with high hopes on the season.

A near-capacity crowd packed into the Pavilion to watch the Rebels take on the Aggies on Wednesday night.

Ole Miss jumped out on the Aggies in the first half behind a barrage of good shooting from behind the arc, making seven of 21, taking a 33-26 lead to the break.

Jaylen Murray scored nine points for the Rebels in the first half; Sean Pedulla was close behind in the first half with eight points.

Ole Miss opened the second half on the same mission, holding a 39-30 lead over the Aggies at the under-16 media timeout. As the under-12 media timeout rolled around, the lead dipped to 41-36 in favor of Ole Miss. Despite efforts to extend the lead by the Rebels, Texas A&M kept the Ole Miss lead at 52-47 at the under-8 media timeout. With 4:15 on the game clock, Ole Miss held on to a 57-52 lead over the Aggies. The final media timeout saw the Rebels extend the lead to 59-52 with 3:49 remaining. However, Texas A&M would nail a corner three from Manny Obaseki with 13 seconds on the clock to stun Ole Miss 63-62.

There’s not an easy night in the Southeastern Conference; Wednesday night was proof of that as the Rebels and Aggies faced off in an excellent basketball matchup that delivered a good game in front of 10,008 fans in Oxford. These two teams traded haymakers, it was one of those games that felt like if A&M were to ever get a lead they would escape with a win. That lead came with 13 seconds left on the clock when Manny Obaseki drilled a corner three to push the Aggies past the Rebels.

Ole Miss will return to action on Saturday night when it travels to Columbia, Missouri, to take on the 22nd-ranked Missouri Tigers. Next Wednesday, the Rebels will return home to welcome the Texas Longhorns to Oxford for another Wednesday night of Southeastern Conference hoops at the Pavilion.
