As the Ole Miss Rebels rejoined the top-25 baseball rankings, so did their counterparts in the southern part of the state, setting the scene for a wild midweek battle between the Golden Eagles and Rebels.
Southern Miss traveled North for a battle with the Rebels, who, after defeating Mississippi State last Tuesday night, looked to continue their quest to be the baseball team in Mississippi in 2025.
Ole Miss jumped out on Southern Miss 3-0 in the first inning behind a few base hits and walks to give the Rebels an early advantage over the Golden Eagles. Nick Monistere would respond for Southern Miss in the second with a solo shot to make it 3-1 in the advantage of the Rebels in the 2nd. With Southern Miss adding a run in the top half of the third, Ole Miss responded with three of their own to make it 6-2 in favor of the Rebels at the end of the third inning. From there, an explosion of runs from both the Rebels and Golden Eagles would light up the scoreboard at Swayze Field with a combined 18 runs at the end of the 6th inning, with Ole Miss holding the advantage over the Golden Eagles.

Ole Miss would add four insurance runs at the bottom of the 8th, including a pair of home runs, to make it 15-8 in favor of the Rebels, who went to the top half of the ninth inning.
Something clicked within the Ole Miss Baseball program following the embarrassing 10-0 run-ruled Texas game in Arlington. As it stands, on February 25th, Coach Bianco has his Ole Miss Rebels looking for an NCAA Tournament Regional host team, with the Rebels making a strong case to be a sleeper to win the Southeastern Conference at the very least to make a little noise in Hoover at the SEC Tournament.

With the win over Southern Miss on Tuesday night, the Rebels welcome Wright State starting Friday for a three-game series. They look to continue their six-game winning streak dating back to Opening Weekend at Globe Life Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
