A nearly perfect day for baseball at Swayze Field in Oxford, Mississippi, the 24th ranked Ole Miss would go for a game two series-deciding win over Wright State on Saturday afternoon and for a chance to extend the Rebels winning streak to eight games.
With it being Saturday at Swayze Field, Riley Maddox would be getting the start for the Rebels in game two against Wright State. Maddox gave the Rebels five complete innings on Saturday of two-hit baseball, striking out five and giving up zero runs. Ryne Rodriguez came in to pitch in the 6th inning, giving the Rebels. Rodriguez would give the Rebels a complete inning, giving up a hit and striking out two Wright State batters. Landon Waters would come into the pitch for the Rebels in the top half of the 7th, giving the Rebels two strikeouts, but not without giving up a hit and a run to Wright State. Sam Tookoian would get the mound in the 8th inning. Tookoian gave Ole Miss a complete inning, giving up a hit and a run. Gunnar Dennis would get the nod in the 9th inning to bring it home for the Rebels on Saturday night.

24th-ranked Ole Miss would open the onslaught of runs in the bottom of the first inning with a pair of back to back two run home runs from Ryan Moerman and Judd Utermark, giving the Rebels an early 4-0 lead over Wright State. Ole Miss would three more runs in the bottom of the second inning to extend the lead to 7-0 over Wright State. Ole Miss would add an 8th run in the bottom of the 5th inning to make it 8-0 Ole Miss. Wright State would cut into the Ole Miss lead with a run in the top half of the 7th inning to make it 8-1 in favor of the Rebels. Wright State would add a run in the top of the 8th to make it 8-2 in favor of the Rebels. With two outs in the top of the 9th, Wright State would add a run to make it 8-3 Ole Miss.
It might be against sub-par competition, but the Rebels keep winning. They are taking another series to prepare for the last weekend of non-conference play before opening Southeastern Conference play against Arkansas on March 15th.
With the win over Wright State on Saturday afternoon, the Rebels improve to 9-1 on the season, extending the win streak to eight games.
Ole Miss will go for the sweep over Wright State on Sunday. The first pitch will be at 1:30 on the SEC Network Plus.
