In an annual trip to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, the Mississippi State Bulldogs traveled south for a two-game midweek slate against Old Dominion from the Sun Belt Conference and Nicholls from the Southland Conference.
In front of a sold-out crowd on back-to-back nights at Kessler Park in Biloxi, Mississippi, the Bulldogs of Mississippi State delivered two nights of exciting baseball for the Bulldog faithful in South Mississippi to enjoy, as many of those fans don’t have the chance to travel to Dudy Noble often for Bulldogs Baseball.
Mississippi State opened the midweek slate with a 9-4 win over Old Dominion on Tuesday night, improving to 12-4 on the season.
Nobody homered for the Bulldogs in Tuesday night’s win over ODU, but timely hitting was all the Bulldogs needed to secure a 9-4 victory and start the road trip to the coast on the right foot.

Evan Siary gave the Bulldogs a solid outing of two-hit baseball, striking out five ODU batters on Tuesday night.

As a new day rolled around, Coach Lemonis announced that utility player Noah Sullivan would get the start for the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Wednesday night against Nicholls State. Noah Sullivan gave the Bulldogs three innings of two-hit baseball; Sullivan struck out two while giving up zero runs. Nolan Stevens would come in the 4th to provide the Bulldogs with 2.1 innings of relief pitching, where he gave up the only Nicholls run of the game in the top half of the 5th inning. Kevin Mannell would replace Stevens in the 6th, giving the Bulldogs 1.2 innings. From there, it was the Ryan McPherson show as he came in during the tail end of the 7th inning to boost the Bulldogs to secure a 2-1 win over Nicholls on Wednesday night to sweep the midweek trip.
Mississippi State will return home for a three-game homestand, starting to open the Southeastern Conference slate, as it welcomes the Longhorns of Texas to Dudy Noble Field.
