In their second Southeastern Conference series of the year, the Ole Miss Rebels traveled north to take on the Missouri Tigers in a three-game set, with the first game coming on Friday night.
As it goes with the lineup for the Rebels, Friday night in the SEC only means one thing: it would be Hunter Elliott on the bump as they looked to take game one of the road series against a depleted Missouri Tigers team. Elliott gave the Rebels 4.2 innings despite giving up four hits and three runs; Elliott struck out seven Missouri batters, giving the Rebels a valiant effort to build off of for the remainder of the game. Mason Morris would come in to pitch to finish the 4th inning, giving the Rebels a valuable middle relief guy on Friday night in a crucial series opener with Mizzou. Morris was credited with the win after giving the Rebels 2.1 innings, giving up two hits and one run while strikeout out four Missouri batters. Brayden Jones would come in for the Rebels in the 8th, giving the Rebels a solid, complete inning of one hit, one run inning, striking out three Missouri batters. Connor Spencer would take the role as closer, giving the Rebels the ninth inning, giving up a hit and a run while striking out two, bringing the combined total to 16 strikeouts on the night.

Despite an early 2-1 deficit at the end of the second, Ole Miss rattled off two runs in the 6th before opening things up in the 7th with a four-run inning to extend the lead over Missouri to 8-3. Ole Miss would add an insurance run in the 8th to extend the lead to 9-3 over the Tigers of Missouri before Mizzou added a run in the bottom of the 8th to make it 9-4, before adding two more in the bottom of the 9th but fell short 9-6 as the Rebels take the game of the series.

Issac Humphrey was the lone Ole Miss player with a home run for the Rebels tonight.
With the win over Missouri, Ole Miss improves to 2-2 in SEC play and 16-7 overall.
Ole Miss will go for the series tomorrow at 4:00 on the SEC Network Plus.
