On a beautiful day for baseball in Memphis, Tennessee, the 6th-ranked Ole Miss Rebels traveled a bit north to take on the Memphis Tigers in game two of the midweek rivalry series. The Rebels came to FedEx Park looking to complete the series sweep of the Tigers after failing to do so last year as the first-year Head Coach Matt Riser had his Tigers ready for a split as one of the high points during the 2024 campaign. As far as this season goes, Memphis fell short of the stunning upset in Oxford in early March and intended to use the Tuesday night home matchup with the Rebels as a springboard for the remainder of the season.

The 6th ranked Ole Miss Rebels would jump to an early 3-0 lead over Memphis through two innings off the bats of Will Furniss and Judd Utermark, who gave the Rebels an early spark with two home runs. Ole Miss would then add two more runs in the top half of the third inning to make it 5-0 Rebels at the end of the third inning. Ole Miss would extend the lead to 9-0 over the Tigers with a run in the fourth and three more in the top half of the 5th inning as the threat of a run-ruled game loomed large over the Tigers on their home turf. Ole Miss would add that 10th run in the 6th inning, holding the Tigers scoreless in the 7th to run rule Memphis, completing the season sweep.
Pitching for the Rebels on Tuesday night was a group effort as Gunnar Dennis got the nod for Coach Bianco as the midweek starter against Memphis. Dennis gave the Rebels four complete innings of scoreless baseball, striking out five Memphis batters while allowing just four hits. From there, the Rebels went with Hudson Calhoun, Patrick Galle, and Sam Tookoian to finish the shutout series win over the Tigers.
Ole Miss will return to action on Wednesday night at Swayze Field against Alcorn State before welcoming Tennessee for a monster three-game series beginning Friday night at 6:30.
