With the weather bumping the start time back a few hours, the Ole Miss Rebels will start their postseason journey on Wednesday night as the Rebels open the 2025 Southeastern Conference Tournament with a second-round matchup with the Florida Gators. Ole Miss will again play the late-night game at the Hoover Met as the Rebels look to continue their push to host an Oxford Regional against one of the hottest teams in the SEC th, the Gators of Florida.
In what will likely be an elimination for a Regional bid, the Rebels will look to channel their version of Hoover magic in hopes of hosting a regional with a win over the Gators; a loss would likely give the Gators a leg up on the Rebels in the pecking order to host a Regional next week.

With tonight’s game such a big deal, Ole Miss is going with its ace in Hunter Elliott on Wednesday night, while the Gators will do the same with Liam Peterson in hopes of securing a Regional next week. In his last outing against Auburn, Elliott gave the Rebels seven complete innings while striking out eight Auburn batters and giving up only four hits with zero runs. Hunter Elliott has been the anchor for the Ole Miss pitching staff all season long.
Ole Miss comes into the matchup with the Gators looking to continue their streak after taking two out of three games against Auburn over the weekend at Swayze Field. Last week alone, in a combined series against Auburn and a mid-week against UT-Martin, Ole Miss scored 43 runs. The way the Met has been playing so far this week, there’s a real possibility that Ole Miss could wake up the bats and jump on the Gators early on in the game on Wednesday night. For Ole Miss to succeed tonight, Judd Utermark, Austin Fawley, Mitchell Sanford, and Ryan Moerman must play to their potential while riding a good pitching performance from Hunter Elliott.
Ole Miss and Florida will play the late-night game on Wednesday night following the second round matchup between Georgia and Oklahoma. If Ole Miss wins on Wednesday, the Rebels will advance to play Arkansas on Friday afternoon.
