LSU takes down Texas A&M 4-3 advancing to play Ole Miss on Saturday

In front of what seemed like Alex Box Stadium, the LSU Tigers would take on the Texas A&M Aggies in their first game in Hoover, with a spot in the 2025 SEC Tournament Semi-finals on the line against Ole Miss on Saturday.

Once the LSU Tigers came out of the tunnel, the Hoover Met turned into Alex Box Stadium, with thousands of LSU fans eager to cheer on the Tigers for the first time all week after outnumbering every fan base in attendance and then some. What LSU brought to Hoover gave the Hoover Met an environment rivaling Alex Box Stadium’s. There’s something special about how LSU fans care about the event and how they take over, making it a road environment for their opponents.

With it being a Friday night in conference play, Coach Jay Johnson would be going with Kade Anderson to start against the Aggies. Anderson delivered the Tigers with six complete innings, giving up four hits, three runs, and 12 strikeouts. Kade did his job well and left LSU with an opportunity to close the door on the Aggies to secure their first win of the weekend in Hoover. LSU would roll with Anthony Eyanson in relief, and the defense would make the plays to finish out the night.

Behind the swarms of LSU fans in attendance, the Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning before two more runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning to make it 4-0 LSU. Texas A&M would make things interesting in the top half of the 4th inning with a two-run inning before adding another in the top half of the 6th to cut the LSU lead to 4-3. That four runs scored was enough for LSU to advance and possibly end the Aggies season.

LSU will now play Ole Miss with an opportunity to play for a championship on Sunday on the line. Although familiar with each other, Ole Miss and LSU did not play this season. Ole Miss will roll with Cade Townsend to start on Sunday, while LSU will likely be a game-time decision, according to Coach Jay Johnson.
