Facing elimination from the 2025 College World Series, the Arkansas Razorbacks and Murray State Racers would meet for the first time at Charles Schwab Field as both teams looked to fight off elimination and live to play another day.
Facing the end of the season for one of the teams on Monday, both Coach Skirka and Coach Van Horn decided to go with two of their aces: Gage Wood from Arkansas and Isaac Silva from Murray State. Both pitchers pitched a remarkable game on Monday. However, it was the Gage Wood show as Wood pitched a complete game no-hitter for just the third time in College World Series history, the first since 1960. Wood finished his final out with his 19th strikeout on the day of a Murray State batter. Isaac Silva finished his day after six complete innings, giving up one run and six hits while striking out seven Arkansas batters.
Not giving Gage Wood a significant lead to work with was the issue for the Razorbacks on Monday afternoon. Arkansas scored the first of three runs in the top half of the third inning before adding the other two in the top half of the seventh inning, propelling Arkansas to a 3-0 victory over Murray State on Monday afternoon.

Lost in the shuffle of Gage Wood’s no-hitter was the unfortunate ending of the storybook Murray State season. For years to come, people will talk about the hope and excitement and hope that the 2025 Murray State baseball brought to them over the last month, from winning the Oxford Regional to taking down Duke in Durham and advancing to the College World Series, not to mention winning the Missouri Valley Tournament and finishing as co-champs of the regular season in the Missouri Valley Conference, the 2025 Murray State baseball team brought a lot of hope to that community and really to the sports world.
As far as the Razorbacks go, the performance by Gage Wood was something that Arkansas fans will talk about for generations. Every single soul will remember where they were when they witnessed College World Series history as Gage delivered the Razorbacks to see another day in Omaha. For at least one more day, the dream of winning a National Championship for Coach Dave Van Horn lives on as the Razorbacks will now await the loser of LSU and UCLA on Tuesday.
