Kade Anderson delivers a complete game shutout, as the Tigers take game one 1-0 over Coastal Carolina

For the second time in three years, the LSU Tigers would begin a College World Series Championship Series on a scorching Saturday night in America’s heartland against Coastal Carolina out of the Sun Belt Conference. In what seems like a yearly tradition for LSU fans at this point, the folks in purple and gold took over Charles Schwab Field in downtown Omaha, Nebraska, giving the Tigers a feel of Alex Box Stadium just a few hours north. As we saw in 2023, the Tigers faithful gave LSU an extra boost to jumpstart the 2025 College World Series Championship Series.

With Kade Anderson on the mound for LSU and Cameron Flukey on the mound for Coastal Carolina, a pitchers dual for the ages would commence. Coastal Carolina would be the first to go to the bullpen after six. Flukey delivered Coastal Carolina an outstanding performance, giving up four hits, only one run, and two walks while striking out nine LSU batters. Dominick Carbone would be the replacement for Cameron Flukey in the bottom of the 7th inning as he tried to channel the momentum created by Flukey. Kade Anderson delivered a pitching performance for the ages as Anderson completed the complete game shutout with ten strikeouts, three hits, and only five walks on the night.

LSU struck first with a base hit from Steven Milam that scored Derek Curiel to make it 1-0 Tigers through the first inning. One run was all the Tigers needed on Saturday night as Kade Anderson delivered a legendary performance with a complete game shutout.

Despite not having the offensive firepower that LSU has grown accustomed to each night, the Tigers had a stellar defensive game that backed Kade Anderson, delivering the Tigers a game one College World Series Championship Series win over Coastal Carolina.

With the win over Coastal Carolina, the LSU Tigers are now one win away from another national championship, their second in three years, furthering the gap between the Tigers and the rest of college baseball. LSU is the standard for everyone else to chase; there’s just something about the purple and gold in June that remains unbeaten.

LSU will go for their 8th National Championship on Sunday at 1:30 on ABC.
