On a crisp early fall day in the Bluegrass, Ole Miss would take on Kentucky in a revenge game from last season, where Kentucky went into Vaught Hemingway Stadium and all but ended the College Football Playoff hopes of Ole Miss by stunning the Rebels and earning their lone Southeastern Conference win of the season.
For the Rebels, the road trip to Lexington meant a chance to bury the demons of last season, but sending a resounding message to the rest of the conference that the 2025 Ole Miss football team was no fluke and a contender for not only the Southeastern Conference crown, but to be in the conversation for positioning in the College Football Playoffs.
On the other sideline, you have a Head Coach in Mark Stoops and the Kentucky Wildcats hungry for respect after a dismal season last year, where the Wildcats went 4-8 and 1-7 in Southeastern Conference play. Even after last week, when the Wildcats escaped an upset-minded Toledo team, the Wildcats came into Saturday’s matchup with Ole Miss looking to channel some of that magic of their own.

Kentucky punched Ole Miss first with an early 7-0 lead over the Rebels at the end of the 1st quarter. From there, the Rebels’ offense found its groove a bit by outscoring the Wildcats 17-6 in the second quarter and taking a 17-13 lead to the locker room. However, the Wildcats would come out in the second half and respond with a touchdown of their own to make it 20-17 Wildcats. Ole Miss responded with a field goal, then a touchdown to make it 27-17. Late in the third quarter, Kentucky would add a field goal to the scoreboard to send the game to the 4th quarter with a slight 27-20 Ole Miss lead. Kentucky would see a drive stall with 4:11 remaining on the game clock, giving the Rebels the ball back with a 27-20 lead. Ole Miss would add a field goal with 1:10 on the clock to extend the lead to 30-27, all but securing a massive SEC opening road win over Kentucky. Kentucky added a field goal to the scoreboard to cut the final score to 30-23 in favor of the Ole Miss Rebels.
Ole Miss will return to action next Saturday as they welcome the Arkansas Razorbacks to Vaught Hemingway Stadium for the home SEC opener.
