#13 Ole Miss dominates Tulane 45-10, improving to 4-0 on the season

On a scorching Saturday afternoon in Oxford, Mississippi, the Ole Miss Rebels welcomed former Southeastern Conference foe the Tulane Green Wave to Vaught Hemingway Stadium for a highly anticipated matchup with College Football Playoff implications on the line. Both undefeated and overlooked, Saturday’s game between the Rebels and Green Wave had all the makings of a special afternoon of football at Vaught Hemingway Stadium.

Tulane came into the game with Ole Miss on Saturday not only to try and solidify their position in the G5 College Football Playoff race, but to continue carrying the torch for the American Conference after Memphis shocked Arkansas 32-31 earlier in the day at the Liberty Bowl.

For Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels, Saturday was a nice break from the grind of the Southeastern Conference, where they had to face another day without Austin Simmons and had the opportunity to continue to build Ole Miss into a College Football Playoff contender. A win over Tulane would be another quality win while building towards the common goal of taking Ole Miss to the College Football Playoffs.

Ole Miss would strike first with a ten-point first quarter as the Rebels raced out to an early 10-0 lead over the Green Wave at the end of the first quarter. Tulane would tack on a field goal in the second quarter, but it was no match for the Rebels as Ole Miss took a 23-3 lead to halftime. At the break, the landshark defense had held Tulane to 117 yards, while the Ole Miss offense buried Tulane with 313 total offensive yards in the first half.

Ole Miss would be held scoreless in the third before opening the 4th with another touchdown drive capped off by a two-point conversion to make it 31-3 Ole Miss with 14:45 remaining in the game. Ole Miss would add another touchdown with 11:48 remaining to further extend the lead to 38-3 over Tulane. Ole Miss would add another touchdown to the scoreboard late in the 4th to make it 45-10 in favor of the Rebels. Ole Miss would seal the deal with an interception with 1:14 remaining on the clock to secure a massive 45-10 Ole Miss victory over a good Tulane team.

Trinidad Chambliss continued to dazzle another defense as he finished his day with 307 yards through the air, with 112 yards of rushing, combined with two touchdowns.

Overall, Saturday was a good day for the Rebels as they improved to 4-0 on the season and will now shift their focus to a hungry LSU team that travels to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in the latest chapter of the LSU-Ole Miss rivalry.
