Indianappolis, Indiana:
It all comes down to the matchup of the century between Gonzaga and Baylor for the 2021 National Championship. It’s a championship matchup that many across the College Basketball world have been hoping would happen after the cancellation of the regular season matchup that was scheduled for December 5th. Since that day, these two programs have been on the fast track for an epic battle in the NCAA Tournament.

When you compare Baylor and Gonzaga on paper, it’s hard to find the differences between these two programs.
For Gonzaga, they come into the Championship matchup with Baylor looking to make history by becoming the first team since 1976 to finish the season as an undefeated National Champion, a feat that was last completed by 1976-1977 Indiana Hoosiers. So how did Gonzaga advance to the Championship game? Mark Few and his Bulldogs were able to fend off a scrappy UCLA team 93-90 in overtime in one of the best Final Four games of all time. It was a Jalen Suggs halfcourt shot at the buzzer that pushed the Bulldogs in the championship matchup with Baylor.
For the boys from Waco, Texas, Baylor imposed their will on Houston on Saturday 78-59 to advance on to the National Championship game. Baylor is looking to do something they have not done in program history which is, to win the National Championship game.
So what can you expect from this matchup? Quite honestly, expect this National Championship to be one of the best ones of all time. Both Gonzaga and Baylor are evenly matched at every spot on the court. When you go back and watch the film of these two programs throughout the entire season, it’s hard to find any differences in the two, which will lead to an exciting National Championship matchup. A matchup that could be one that could be talked about for years to come.

This year’s National Championship will be a special one as well as we celebrate yet another successful Covid sports season. When a lot of folks doubted the sport, it kept going. Without a College Basketball season, we would not have had the exciting matchup that we do tonight.
Monday’s night National Championship game will tip off at 8:30 local time and can be viewed on your local CBS station.
