Liberty Football, the household name you didn’t realize you needed

It’s like a broken record at this point, but without the annoying sounds, Coach Freeze and his Liberty Flames have just defeated Arkansas in Fayetteville to earn the program their eighth win of the season. That win should come as no surprise to those who follow college football because Head Coach Hugh Freeze has won everywhere he has been. Dating back to his days at Briarcrest Christian School, Lambuth, Arkansas State, and beyond, Freeze is a winner. Not many coaches can say that they have beaten Nick Saban once, let alone two times. Freeze has turned Liberty Football into a household name competing for a bid to a highly sought-after New Year Six Bowl.

Heading into the Arkansas game, many thought Coach Freeze would have the Flames ready for battle, but not many expected Liberty to earn a win. Yet, here we are, Liberty wins again, and for some weird reason, people are shocked. For those who follow the sport of football, the win over Arkansas is yet another stepping stone for a program that will soon compete at the highest levels in college football.

With the expansion of the College Football Playoff on the horizon, what Liberty is doing now is just building for a successful future that could lead the Flames into the promised land of the College Football Playoffs. Liberty has already solidified its support for football with generations of salary increases for Coach Freeze and upgrades to the athletics department. Next year, Liberty will join the Conference USA as a full-time member, where the Flames will have more money, bigger stages, and an overall better shot at earning a trip to the College Football Playoffs. When the College Football Playoffs expand, under the leadership of Freeze at Liberty, the Flames could be knocking on the doorstep with the likeness of Coastal Carolina, App State, and maybe James Madison as the next group of programs to leave their mark on college football.

With that in mind, as the program continues to grow, so will the rumors of Coach Freeze leaving the program for other programs. However, Coach Freeze understands that the grass is not always greener on the other side. Loyalty goes a long way in building programs. Why would he leave for a program in turmoil like an Auburn when he can stay at Liberty and continue to do what he’s good at doing with no unreasonable expectations to follow? For as long as he is at Liberty, Liberty Football fans will enjoy success unmatched by anybody at the school.

Liberty Football is on the verge of something remarkable that will continue paving the road for generations to follow.
