With Coach Vince Dooley smiling down from Heaven, the Georgia Bulldogs dominated TCU to win the National Championship. From the opening kick, it was Kirby Smart and his Georgia team; who imposed their will on the Horned Frogs from TCU. All season, people doubted this Georgia team; not many gave the defending National Champions the credit they deserved, and the Bulldogs took it personally. Once the clock hit zero at SoFi Stadium on Monday night, the Bulldogs had shown why they were the hunter rather than the hunted.

Right before kickoff, Holly Rowe of ESPN got a final word from Head Coach Kirby Smart; he stated, ” Time To Go hunting.” It was that mindset that Georgia used all game. For those unfamiliar with SEC Football, Georgia has been the best team without question since September. Unlike TCU, Georgia was not content with an appearance in the National Championship; winning was the only option. That’s what separates Georgia from the pack, a loss in the National Championship on Monday and the Bulldogs would conclude that the 2022 season was unsuccessful. There was never any question as to what Kirby Smart expected from his team tonight; they were to go out and handle business.

There was such a gap between TCU and Georgia tonight that you felt sorry that the Horned Frogs were the latest victim of the Georgia Bulldogs. Not only was it an impressive defensive outing by the Bulldogs, but Stetson Bennet also put up video game numbers on TCU. Stetson Bennet and the Georgia offensive unit made TCU look silly; they averaged over 10 yards per play. It felt as if every time TCU would try to tackle one of the Georgia offensive players, that Bulldogs player would drag the line and gain another few yards.
Stetson Bennet finished his Georgia career with 304 yards and four touchdowns on Monday night in the National Championship game against TCU. There has never been a Georgia player who did more for the program than Stetson Bennet. Bennet gave Georgia fans one last curtain call. With the Championship win on Monday night, Stetson Bennet finished his Georgia with a crazy 29-3 record with two national championship rings. There will never be another Stetson Bennet to put on a Georgia uniform. College Football was better off having been graced by his presence.
On the defensive side of the ball, Georgia forced a few turnovers and made the explosive TCU offensive unit very uncomfortable. TCU had no answer for the physical Georgia front. Monday was a beautiful performance by the defense, and it complimented what the Georgia offensive side of the ball had put together.
There’s no doubt that Coach Dooley was looking down on his Georgia team tonight with a smile of happiness as Kirby Smart led the program to another National Championship. Georgia has cemented their legacy as the new age of college football. Until proven otherwise, the National Championship road runs right through the streets of Athens, Georgia.
