Another beautiful day of baseball at the Hoover Met delivered another incredible day of Southeastern Conference baseball, as eight teams faced off, with several games feeling like high-stakes postseason baseball.
Mississippi State and Missouri would open the day with a side of breakfast ball in a matchup that the Missouri Tigers needed to win to keep the season alive, while Mississippi State needed a win or two in Hoover to make sure the selection committee does not do anything but take a Starkville Regional away from Mississippi State as the Bulldogs are now more than qualfied based off the metric to host as a top-16 seed. Missouri would jump out to an early 1-0 lead over Mississippi State, but the lead was short-lived as the Bulldogs put eight runs in the bottom of the 6th to secure a 12-2 run-ruled victory, advancing to a massive showdown on Wednesday afternoon against the Georgia Bulldogs. A Georgia team that swept Mississippi State in the regular season will be a tough out on Wednesday afternoon. First pitch for the battle of the Bulldogs is slated for 3:00 PM.

In game two of the day, it was the Florida Gators and Vanderbilt Commodores. Vanderbilt needs a win to likely extend the season and not miss the NCAA Regionals for the first time since 2005, when David Price was a freshman at Vanderbilt. However, the Gators of Florida had other plans on Wednesday, hammering home three home runs en route to an easy 8-3 win to advance to play the Alabama Crimson Tide on Thursday afternoon for a right to advance to the SEC Tournament semifinals on Saturday. Overall, a really good win for Florida as the Gators continue to impress, as now might have played into the conversation of a fringe top-eight national seed. Florida will host, but a win over Alabama on Thursday could provide the Gators with a needed boost to take hosting to the next level.

Game three delivered the home run shots as Arkansas hit four home runs off the Tennessee pitchers. Arkansas came into the game looking to make a statement by producing runs and sending Tennessee back home to Knoxville, and the Razorbacks did both. Once Arkansas started scoring, the Razorbacks were off to the races, and they looked like the Arkansas that many of us expected to see this season. Zack Stewart was the man for Arkansas with his two home runs today, with one of those going off the scoreboard in right field. With the bats coming alive, the Razorbacks cruise to an 8-4 victory on Wednesday and will now face Texas on Friday afternoon.

In the last game of the day, it was the LSU Tigers once again fighting for their postseason life as they would look to extend their 2026 by at least one more game with a win over Auburn. However, as anybody in this conference knows, playing Auburn is like choosing death by a thousand paper cuts. It wasn’t pretty, but Auburn did what they had to do on Wednesday night to secure a 3-1 win over LSU, and now they’ll face Texas A&M on Friday night. Auburn had two solo shots from Chase Fralick and Eric Guevara tonight. The big story, though, for the Auburn Tigers was the combination of Jake Marciano, who started and struck out four, and Jackson Sanders, who came in for three innings, striking out two while giving up zero runs. Again, it wasn’t pretty, but Auburn got the job done on Wednesday night, and now the Tigers have a date with the Aggies of Texas A&M on Friday.
Once again, the Southeastern Conference baseball tournament delivers another incredible day of college baseball. Now starting on Thursday with Mississippi State and Georgia, every game will feel like a College World Series environment.
