Head Coach Kermit Davis has his Ole Miss Rebels primed and ready for a late season run

Head Coach Kermit Davis has his Ole Miss Rebels playing at such a high level now. Some are starting to ask, Does Ole Miss have what it takes to make the NCAA Tournament? The answer is yes! Ole Miss has started to peak at the right time and have looked good doing so. In the last three games, Ole Miss has won all three, including that were two massive wins over top-ten opponents in Tennessee and Missouri.

For a team who struggled to score early in the season, the Rebels sure have turned the corner in the last three games. Ole Miss has combined for 218 points, which is stellar considering the level of competition the Rebels have had to face in those three games. In those three games, Ole Miss pushed Missouri and Tennessee to the absolute brink and showed the true potential of this team. This is the Ole Miss basketball team that Head Coach Kermit Davis has expected to see since he arrived in Oxford.

The turnaround from the Rebels comes hand in hand with the improvement of the double-headed monster in the backcourt. Devontae Shuler and Jarkel Joiner have led the Rebels in scoring over the last three games.

Sure, making the NCAA Tournament might be a far stretch for this team as they enter the final month of the regular season. However, it’s not out of the realm of possibilities. Using history as the guide, stranger things have happened. Ole Miss wouldn’t be the first team to peak at the right time and make a late surprising run at the NCAA Tournament. Ole Miss did so in 2013 when Marshall Henderson and the boys made a run in the SEC Tournament to defeat Florida in the championship game to secure a bid in the NCAA Tournament.

The way Head Coach Kermit Davis has this Ole Miss basketball team built, it wouldn’t be shocking to see them use this three-game winning streak and turn it into something magical. This Ole Miss team mirrors the old school Kermit Davis coached MTSU squads, tough, gritty, and they win basketball games. Now is the time to peak, and Ole Miss is doing just that.
