Mississippi State forces game three, after defeating Vanderbilt 13-2 on Tuesday night

Omaha, Nebraska:

Following a four-run 4th inning, Mississippi State cruises to an easy 13-2 win over the Vandy boys to force a deciding game three in the 2021 College World Series Final. Game three, one of the most exciting phrases in College Baseball history, will take part on Wednesday night as Vanderbilt and Mississippi State battle it out just one more time with a National Championship on the line.

For Mississippi State, Wednesday night will give the Bulldogs faithful another shot at a school first National Championship and an opportunity to break a 125-year-old curse that has plagued generations of Mississippi State fans through the years.

For Vanderbilt, Wednesday night has a whole new meaning as the Commodores seek to be the first school to go back-to-back since 2010-2011 when South Carolina did it by defeating UCLA and Florida to win the National Championship.

So how did we get here?

Well, on Monday night, it was all Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt jumped out in the first inning to a 7-1 lead. From there, it was the Jack Leiter show, as Leiter went six whole innings giving up two runs and striking out eight batters. Vanderbilt finished off Mississippi state by a margin of 8-2 to put the Bulldogs into a tight spot on Tuesday night.

Fast forward to Tuesday night, it was all Mississippi State as the Bulldogs jumped out early and didn’t take their foot off the gas pedal as the Bulldogs cruise to an easy 13-2 win over Vanderbilt.

As far as game three goes, honestly, when it’s all said and done, game three has the potential to be one of the greatest College Baseball games of all time.

From a matchup standpoint, both teams are about even when you compare the two side by side.

For Mississippi State to win on Wednesday night, the Bulldogs have got to continue getting to the Vanderbilt early, putting the Commodores into a tight spot as the baseball goes on.

For Vanderbilt, it all comes down to getting run support for starting pitcher Kumar Rocker and positioning themselves for the long haul of the drama of a game three National Championship game.

Wednesday night will also be a showcase for two of the best pitchers in College Baseball as Kumar Rocker will take the mound for Vanderbilt, and Will Bednar for Mississippi State.

Game three of the College World Series Final will get underway at 6:00 P: M on Wednesday night and can be viewed on ESPN2.
