The magical ride continues! Ole Miss is heading to the National Championship after beating Arkansas 2-0

Hell yeah! Damn Right! Ole Miss is heading to the National Championship for the first time in school history after defeating the Arkansas Razorbacks on Thursday 2-0. It was pure euphoria for the Rebel faithful in Omaha as Mike Bianco clinched their spot in the 2022 National Championship against the Oklahoma Sooners.

No matter what happens in the Championship series, Mike Bianco and his Ole Miss Rebels have done what nobody thought possible for this Rebels baseball team. Not only were the Rebels the last team in the 2022 NCAA Tournament, but many expected Ole Miss to lose early in the Tournament and make a quick exit back to Oxford to begin off-season training. However, postseason results aren’t decided in the papers or by the talking heads around College Baseball.

Say what you want about Ole Miss and even Mike Bianco, but the 2022 Ole Miss Rebels will go down in the history of College Baseball as one of the greatest comeback stories of all time. You might realize it, but there was a point this season when both Ole Miss fans and media folks thought it would be a good idea to fire Coach Bianco. However, following this run, Mike Bianco has deserved himself the key to the city of Oxford and much more. Coach Bianco has gotten his Rebels to believe in something that no other Ole Miss Baseball team has ever done.

On the field Thursday afternoon, it was the Dylan DeLucia show. DeLucia pitched a complete game giving up four hits and no runs. In all honesty, what DeLucia did on Thursday afternoon will go down in the history of Ole Miss Baseball as one of the most legendary outings by a single player in Ole Miss Baseball history. Many around the Ole Miss program have feelings that the Rebels will see more of DeLucia in either a starting role or for a long extended relief situation.

As far as the matchup with the Sooners goes? It’ll be tough. Oklahoma has gone undefeated in Omaha, defeating Texas A&M and Notre Dame. The Sooners aren’t a flashy team that will put up a lot of runs, but the Sooners will beat you with methodical pitching and timely hitting.

As in the matchup with Arkansas, if Ole Miss can strike first and get pitching under control, the Rebels could earn a first-ever National Championship.

Ole Miss and Oklahoma will get underway on Saturday night with a 6:00 PM first pitch.
