Josh Heupel is quietly building Tennessee Football into a contender in the Southeastern Conference

It’s been a long time, but Tennessee Football has reached excitement levels not seen in over 20-something-odd years. Folks on Rocky Top are optimistic about what’s to come for the program under Head Coach Josh Heupel. With College Gameday and Florida coming to town on Saturday, how could you blame the Volunteers and their fan base for being so excited about where the program stands today? Not to mention, Tennessee has climbed into the top 15 of the rankings, and they have a legitimate Heisman Trophy contender in Hendon Hooker.

Sure, it’s still a long season, but you can’t help to notice the Rocky Top blaring in the distance as the folks in Knoxville prepare for the ride of their life. A win on Saturday over the Gators and the Volunteers could be staring at a path towards earning a position in a highly sought-after New Year Six Bowl Game.

Hendon Hooker – Tennessee Football

It’s been a long time coming, but the excitement on Rocky Top comes with a certain level of skepticism. Since winning the National Championship in 1998, the Volunteers have been on the wrong side of College Football history with few moments to celebrate. Every year it’s been the same story for Tennessee Football. The Big Orange Nation gets excited about the upcoming season before crashing and burning into a spiral of misery and heartache. However, things on Rocky Top feel different as Josh Heupel takes his Volunteers to the field of battle against Florida on Saturday afternoon at Neyland Stadium.

Tennessee fans understand that the Volunteers Football program is in the process of rebuilding and awakening the sleeping giant that is Tennessee Football. With the way Heupel coaches, Tennessee Football is a year or two away from competing with the upper half of the Southeastern Conference. Heupel understands that Tennessee Football is a national brand that recruits itself. Heupel was given the keys to a brand new hot rod. Tennessee Football will always be a national brand. The Volunteers get the recruits just because it’s Tennessee; they were missing the leadership they found in Josh Heupel. Like Kirby Smart at Georgia or Nick Saban at Alabama, Josh Heupel is the perfect fit for Tennessee to get the Volunteers to the next level.

A win on Saturday over the Flordia Gators and Tennessee Football will have another building block of success on the way to restoring the proud traditions of Tennessee Football. With the resources on tap for the Volunteers, sustained success on the field is right around the corner for the Tennessee Volunteers and the Big Orange Nation.
