We’re through four days of the 2023 Southeastern Conference Men’s Basketball Tournament, and we now have two teams remaining to compete for the SEC Tournament Championship. Out of the top half of the bracket, it was Head Coach Nate Oats and his Alabama Crimson Tide defeating Missouri 72-61 on Saturday morning to secure the Crimson Tide a chance to win the SEC Tournament on Sunday to go with the regular season crown the Crimson Tide have already earned this season. Alabama will take on the second-best Southeastern Conference team this season, the Texas A&M Aggies. Texas A&M and Alabama last met on Saturday in College Station, where the Aggies defeated Alabama 67-61.

For Alabama, they got to the Championship game on Sunday by blowing through Mississippi State on Friday and Missouri on Saturday. Alabama came into the 2023 SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament as the favorite to cut down the nets in Nashville. As you watch Alabama in this Tournament, you will understand why. Alabama has a crazy amount of talent on the roster, and they can beat you in so many ways.
For Head Coach Nate Oats and his Alabama program, Sunday’s Championship is another opportunity for the Crimson Tide to earn another trophy before entering the NCAA Tournament and trying to make a run at an elusive National Championship. Alabama won’t admit this, but Coach Oats and his team are out to shut the haters up by winning.
For Texas A&M, the Aggies came into the 2023 SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament with a chip on their shoulders. Despite beating Alabama last week, Texas A&M has lived wrongfully in the shadow of Alabama all season. Head Coach Buzz Williams has his Aggies playing at a Championship caliber level that many in the NCAA Tournament will dread playing.
Alabama and Texas A&M will be an SEC Tournament Championship for the ages, two heavy-weight programs on an even playing field. When the odds are released, expect Alabama to be the favorite. However, A&M has the players and the matchups to position the Aggies for a run at the 2023 SEC Tournament Championship. For fans watching on Sunday wondering what the Championship game will look like, go and watch the previous meeting from March 4th. Sunday will be a forty-minute battle between the Crimson Tide and Aggies, with every position mattering. If either team is to win an SEC Championship, they can’t afford to let the other develop a lead.
Alabama and Texas A&M will tip at noon with a national television broadcast on ESPN.
