Arkansas State and Georgia State game thread ( live)

Good evening and welcome to the first ever live thread for the website. With Twitter down for the time being, this thread will be your one stop shop for in game live updates from Jonesboro, Arkansas.

6:26- Both teams have taken the field, and kickoff is coming your way at 6:30 on ESPN.

This will be the 7th meeting between the two programs with Arkansas State leading the series, 5-1.

Arkansas State wins the coin toss and will defer to the second half.

Georgia State opens the game with a three and out.

The Panthers botch the snap on the punt and it will be first and goal for Arkansas State on the five yard line.

Georgia State forced to punt again on their second possession of the game, after review the ruling on the field, stands.

A- State will get amazing field position after another special teams blunder from the Panthers after a shanked punt. ( 7-0 ASU with 11:37 to play in the first.)

The Red Wolves are held to a punt after a stalled possession.

Georgia State will takeover on first down at the 17 yard line. The Panthers can’t get anything going on that drive and they’re forced to punt.

A-State takes over on the 36 with a 7-0 lead with 8:24 to play in the first.

Just like that, we have another punt! What was expected to be a high flying shootout has turned into a defensive battle.

Georgia State with a touchdown on that drive, it was all Cornelious Brown IV on that possession for the Panthers. With the touchdown we’re all tied up here in Jonesboro 7-7 with 4:34 to go in the 1st Q.

Arkansas State with a massive 49 yard touchdown pass from Layne Hatcher to Dahu Green to make it 14-7 Red Wolves with 3:20 to play in the 1st Q.

Georgia State will take over on the 25 yard line after a touchback.

A promising drive for the Panthers stalls out and they are forced to punt.

End of the 1st Q and Arkansas State leads 14-7.

Arkansas State goes for it on 4th down and earns the first down to start the second quarter.

We have a big boy defensive touchdown after a swarm of Panthers caused an Arkansas State fumble. We’re all tied up again here in Jonesboro.

Arkansas State has to put the ball away to the Georgia State with 9:49 to play in the half.

Arkansas State faces an interesting 4th and 2 here, watch for Blake Anderson to gamble and either try to draw Georgia State offsides or flat out go for it. Knowing his offensive firepower, going for it just might be the wise decision. The offense is staying on the field, and the gamble pays off with a quick slant pass over the middle.

On the next play, Logan Bonner throws an absolute rocket to Jonathan Adams to take a 21-14 lead with 6:00 left in the first half.

Georgia State comes right out with a touchdown of their own to make it tied again at 21, with 4:29 to play in the half.

Arkansas State answers with an impressive drive of their own that ended in a Red Wolves touchdown right before with 48 seconds left in the first half to make it 28-21. The go-ahead touchdown was a touchdown pass caught by Dahu Green.

48 seconds was all Georgia State needed to march the length of the field to tie the game at 28 with 14 seconds left to play in the half. The tying touchdown was made by Sam Pinckney.

Arkansas State will open the second half with the ball and will look to set the tempo early, because this game feels like the type that whoever has the ball last will win.

Just like that we’re underway in the second half.

The Georgia State defensive line with another massive stop there on 4th down to force a turnover on downs. Panthers will take over on the 40 yard line.

Three plays and it’s Georgia State touchdown to make it 35-28 with 13:30 to play in the third.

Arkansas State puts together a methodical long drive to tie the game at 35 a piece with 8:21 to play in the third.

In a game that started out with a strong defensive showing, the ” Fun Belt” has delivered once again setting up for an instant classic in Jonesboro.

Arkansas State with a little defensive magic of their own with forcing the Panthers to a three and out. A- State will take over on the 47 yard line with 7:07 left to play in the 3rd.

Georgia State goes the length of the field to tie the game at 42, with 4:44 left in the 3rd. This game is slowly ticking by, but the Sun Belt after dark is setting up an instant classic, one that you won’t want to miss.

It’s clockwork at this rate, Arkansas State scores yet again and this time it’s with a field goal. Red Wolves take the 45-42 lead with 2:36 left in the 3rd.

Side note for all you random stat nerds like myself, both teams have a combined 900 total yards and we still have a whole quarter to play.

Georgia State opens the second half with a touchdown to make it 49-45 with 14:54 to play.

Arkansas State with the go ahead touchdown with 12:40 left to play in the game. 473 passing yards for Arkansas State is now the third most in school history.

52-49 Arkansas State with 12:40 to play in the game.

Three and out for Georgia State on that drive, big time opportunity coming here for the Red Wolves. With a score they just about put the nail in the coffin of Georgia State.

Arkansas State answers with a triple reverse pass to regain the lead by a score of 59-52 with 4:23 left to play.
